The Anchorage Museum has an immediate opening for a full-time Information Systems (IS) Manager. This position works under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. The Information Systems Manager is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the Information Technology (IT) Department to include hands-on oversight of network systems, hardware, and software infrastructure. He or she develops, coordinates and supports the Anchorage Museum’s IT infrastructure as well as protects company data assets by ensuring security, backups, redundancy, and reliability. The Information Systems Manager develops proactive plans to ensure the IT department capabilities correspond and support The Anchorage Museum’s business needs while providing users with the highest degree of performance and security. The incumbent services all areas of a dynamic information system network focusing both on day-to-day operations as well as setting and implementing long-term IT goals.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: ALA accredited MLIS or equivalent degree; experience with circulation and integrated library systems; supervisory experience in a library or educational setting, and experience providing academic reference service and/or library instruction.
The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate a strong commitment to user-centered library services for students, faculty, and community members from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds; participate in library-wide planning; be familiar with relevant emerging technologies and the principles of information literacy; possess strong inter-personal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills, and engage in professional and scholarly activity sufficient to meet requirements for promotion and tenure.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in one or more science disciplines; ability to create and publish library promotional/instructional materials in an online environment, and experience with the SIRSI Unicorn ILS.
POSITION DUTIES: Circulation/Reserves/Stacks
1. Stay current and implement improvements related to circulation and reserve activities within a consortial integrated library system.
2. Work with circulation staff to implement procedures that support library policy.
3. Supervise two paraprofessional staff.
- Lead circulation hires; assist with student hires.
- Prepare staff evaluations and assist with student evaluations.
4. Compile statistical circulation and reserves data, completing reports as needed.
5. Maintain stacks including coordination with librarians on weeding, acquisitions and space utilization; work with circulation staff on shifting projects.
6. Help interpret copyright law with regard to course reserves, digital rights management, e-resources, digital copyright and interlibrary loan; participate in the campus effort to define institutional intellectual property rights policy.
Reference
1. Perform instructionally focused reference service in a broad range of academic subject areas.
2. Use initiative, creativity and resourcefulness in preparing informational materials to promote library services and facilitate use of the library.
3. Hire, supervise and evaluate temporary reference librarians; coordinate staff training in library resources and services.
4. Collaborate with other library faculty to assess the quality and currency of the reference collection and services.
5. Implement new services that respond to the changing needs of faculty and students.
6. Serve at the reference desk, including occasional nighttime and weekend hours in rotation with other librarians.
Instruction
1. Deliver effective library instruction within liaison areas and more generally to the campus community.
2. Partner with colleagues within the library and campus to develop instructional materials that integrate information literacy into the curricula.
3. Engage in assessment of student learning.
Campus Outreach
1. Plays an integral role in proposing and developing new marketing strategies to extend the library's public service programs; works harmoniously and effectively with all segments of the University community.
Liaison to Academic Programs in Natural Sciences and Career Education
1. Foster a close working relationship between faculty in liaison-area disciplines and the Library management team.
2. Serve as a collection development subject specialist for print and electronic resources in liaison areas.
University/Public Service/Professional Development

2. Remain current with trends in reference and information literacy services.
3.Participate in faculty governance and campus/community service.

$45,000 minimum, commensurate with experience and qualifications and includes an excellent benefits package. Potential for 1-3 month extension. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position. Position covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
