School Librarian Travel GrantsThe Alaska Association of School Librarians (AkASL) is offering Professional Development Grants to attend the AKLA 2012 conference in Fairbanks for up to $1000 per applicant. 15 grants will be awarded to library staff members across the state. Applications must be received by January 3, 2012. Award notification will be sent by January 17. All applicants must be members of AkASL. Applications for grants and membership can be found on the AkASL website. The State Library, through Alaska State Museum and the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, has generously provided funding for grants to AKASL members to attend conferences and other Professional Development opportunities. Continuing Education (CE) Grants for Public Library StaffPublic libraries that are currently receiving the Alaska Public Library Assistance Grant program may apply for financial assistance for staff to attend training. The proposed CE opportunity must be approved in advance by Aja Razumny, the State Library's Continuing Education Coordinator. Actual costs, not to exceed $1,000, will be reimbursed. Employee, Volunteer or Board Member of a Library in Interior Alaska Conference Attendance GrantDo you live in the Interior Region of Alaska and are you interested in attending the Alaska Library Association 2012 Conference in Fairbanks? Grant assistance is available. The Alaska Library Association is offering $500 to one library employee, volunteer and/or board member from a library in the Interior region (as defined by the Dept. of Commerce and Economic Development) to assist with travel and lodging expenses incurred while attending the 2012 AkLA Conference. The conference registration fee will also be waived for the award recipient. Eligibility:
