Invitation to Conference: Shakespeare once wrote that "Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast," and he could have been talking about the 2004 Alaska Library Association Conference. It has been a trying year for most Alaska librarians for a host of reasons, but, at the same time, our profession is in a fascinating and exhilarating period of its history. Much of what makes it so exciting to be where we are and doing what we do will be available for exploring at the Fairbanks AkLA Conference. Programs of interest to all types of libraries will be well-represented, and some will be presented in ways that the conference Local Arrangements Chair, Georgine Olson and I believe will be different from years past. For example:
The conference will also uphold AkLA tradition by featuring dynamic speakers and presenters drawn from all aspects of the library world, and there will be ample opportunity for professional development through more than one presentation provided by each of the headline speakers. Also, in keeping with tradition, the Fairbanks library community is going all-out to make our annual gathering informative, fun, and gratifying. And just like the Bard said, we're going to be so darn glad to see you, the 2004 AkLA Conference is bound to be a merry feast, for the mind, soul and body. ~Greg Hill, VP for Conference Web site accessibility notice: Most of the information found in the PDF version of the Conference Brochure is accessible on the AkLA conference web pages via html.
