The ABA Policy and Standards Division of the Library of Congress announced the intention to modernize the subject headings treatment for cooking and cookbooks on September 18, 2009, and published a discussion paper ( http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/cooking.pdf ), which included an open call for comment from interested parties. The responses received raised additional issues that were addressed in a follow-up paper published on December 23, 2009 ( http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/cooking2.pdf ).

The Library of Congress decisions regarding the revision of headings for cooking and cookbooks has been posted at http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/cooking3.pdf .

The target date for implementation of these decisions is late May/early June 2010.
