Authors to Alaska Luncheon Speaker Megan Whalen Turner writes intriguing fantasy for young adults. Her first book, Instead Of Three Wishes, is a collection of seven stories. Her second book, The Thief, is a novel of wit and adventure and was a recipient of numerous awards including: Newbery Honor book in 1997; American Library Association List of Notable Books 1997;Best Books for Young Adults 1997; Blue Ribbon List 1996; & Hornbook Fanfare List. Her third book, The Queen Attolia, received honors from Booklist Top ten Fantasy Books for Youth; Parents’ Choice 2000 Fiction Gold Award; Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, Blue Ribbon List & New York Public Library Books for the Teenage, 2001. Megan took her BA with honors in English language and literature from the University of Chicago in 1987, currently lives in Menlo Park, California with her husband and three young sons. |
