ACCOMMODATIONS

Hotel space for the
March AKLA conference in Juneau is going fast. Our main conference
hotel, the Goldbelt, is now fully booked.
Discounted conference rates are still available at the Prospector
Hotel. This recently remodeled hotel is located one block from
Centennial Hall, our conference site. Call the Prospector direct
at 907-586-3737 to book. Mountain-wing rooms are $75 a night,
water-view rooms are $95, if you ask for the "AKLA conference
ALASKAN FLY-IN" rate. The basic rate covers either single
or double occupancy, and it costs $10 for each additional person
after two in the room.
For other accommodation
options, try the online listings at http://www.traveljuneau.com/planner/accommodations.
If you have no
Internet access, call 586-0443 and give your name and fax number
to receive a printout of these listings.
Juneau has a 5% sales tax plus a 7% bed tax. Both apply to lodging
rates.
Thank you to Carol
McCabe, the Accommodations Chair, for this helpful information!
The
Goldbelt Hotel
The Goldbelt Hotel
Juneau is our official conference hotel. It is conveniently located
in downtown Juneau next to the conference site in Centennial Hall.
The Goldbelt offers nicely furnished rooms with a choice of a
harbor or mountain view, non-smoking option, free parking, plus
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles. In-room exercise equipment
is available. Owned by Goldbelt, Inc., an Alaskan Native corporation,
the hotel displays the three-diamond symbol for excellence in
hospitality and is AAA-approved.
The Goldbelt Hotel
Juneau offers a special AkLA-discounted room rate of $99 which
applies for either single or double occupancy. There is an additional
$15 fee for a third person in a room. Rates are subject to a 12%
city sales and occupancy tax.
You may contact the
Goldbelt in one of these ways:
- reservation department toll-free at 888-478-6909
- direct line at 907-586-6900
- email david.hays@goldbelt.com
When booking, be
sure to mention that you are attending the AkLA Annual Conference.
Make early reservations
as Juneau hotels are heavily booked and frequently sold out during
the legislative session. The 105 rooms in this prime location
will only be reserved exclusively for AkLA Annual Conference participants
until mid-February. After that, Goldbelt will no longer be able
to assure space for attendees.
