August 2007 - Greetings to all Alaska Library Association-JUNEAU enthusiasts!

Congratulations to the three winners of the First Annual Lead Paragraph Contest, Lynn Shepherd, Beatrice Franklin and Marilyn Clark.  Let me give you an idea of their suggestions for energizing AkLA-J.

Advocacy, advocacy, advocacy…letting Juneauites know just how much libraries and the Digital Pipeline contribute…consider posters at the airport,  messages on the TVs in post offices, preview screens at local movie theatres, float in the July parade, bookmarks, PSAs on radio stations, etc.  Keep updating the statistics on library use.

AkLA-J could promote more sharing of library news/events among Juneau libraries.  A regularly posted newsletter could include new library services and collections, staff hires/departures/profiles, policy or procedure changes, calls for volunteers, book reviews, etc.
